Detailed Map of  TunisiaFlag of Tunisia

Tunisia is located in North Africa, on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. The northern part of the country is covered by mountainous agricultural land while the south is covered by the Sahara Desert. The economy is heavily dependent on oil and phosphate mining.

Tunisia was the site of ancient Carthage, the notable civilization 200 years before Christ. In its modern history it was ruled by France until 1956. Tunisia has a republican form of government with multi party politics.

Islam is Tunisia's state religion. Though tolerance is shown to other religions, Christian witness is frowned upon. The indigenous population is almost totally unreached and there are few known evangelical believers.
