Arabic Bible: VanDyke and Smith's Version

Description

The translation of the Arabic Bible began in the 1800's with Reverend Eli Smith's burden for the millions of Arabic-speaking people. After vigorous studying of the language, Smith initiated the effort to translate the entire Bible into Arabic. Together with a group of prominent Arabic scholars, Smith gave great attention to textual studies of ancient translations. When Rev. Smith passed away before the completion of the translation his colleague, Dr. Cornelius Van Dyke, finished the work. In 1860 the translation of The Arabic Bible was completed.
